forKICKS Summer Program
From July 21 to August 22 of this year, the organizers of forKICKS ran a five week soccer program, targeting local at-risk youth. The program concentrated not only on soccer skills, but on life skills and leadership qualities, as well as having fun!
The Caribbean Chiefs of Police Conference
Following the two days of soccer clinics in Kingston, Officers involved in the forKICKS program travelled to Ocho Rios to attend the Caribbean Chiefs of Police Conference.
forKICKS in Jamaica
In May of 2008, twelve Toronto Police Officers, along with several members of the Toronto Azzurri Soccer Club attended Kingston, Jamaica to participate in a two day soccer program geared at teaching life skills to at-risk youth.
The Costa Rica Cup
The Costa Rica Cup is an annual 6-on-6 soccer tournament hosted in Jaco, Costa Rica. Founded in 1999, it hosts teams of police officers, fire fighters and airline personnel to raise funds for their local youth programs and to create valuable partnerships to help with an immediate problem.
At Risk Youth
AT-RISK YOUTH, also termed High-Risk Youth, are a vital and pressing social issue. Governments, media and the general public spend years and vast sums of money on well-intentioned strategies, most which fall short. Although successes emerge, they are far outpaced by faster-growing problems.
